Ludwig up, others day to day: Thursday notes

Bridgeport practiced this morning without Mike Halmo, who Brent Thompson reported as not feeling well. They’ll see how he is for Friday’s game in Providence against the Bruins, who’ve got Frankie Vatrano putting up video-game numbers and a whole mess of other talent. They’ll also see about Carter Verhaeghe, who’s gotten through a couple of practices.

One more game to sit for Scott Mayfield. Bridgeport called up C.J. Ludwig from Missouri today to give them some more depth and some lineup options. (Still no Ryan Pulock games in the Show yet, reports Arthur Staple from Calgary.)

Albany is a bit banged up but keeps winning.

Not a bad week for Portland’s Mike McKenna: second daughter; historic shutout.

Anaheim, which lost Chris Wagner on waivers earlier this year, reclaimed him from Colorado and sent him to San Diego, which the CBA says is allowable for a guy you lost on waivers and, when reclaiming him, are the only team to put in a claim. So we’ve had the lone-claimer rule and the three-minute-major rule this week. What other obscurities can we pull out before the trade deadline?

MLB is going to review the neighborhood play while trying to clean up slides into second base. Gut says this’ll be a messy year.

And RIP, Eddie Einhorn.
