Mayfield out: Providence pregame

Brent Thompson said Scott Mayfield has been nursing an upper-body injury for a while, and it was aggravated the past couple of games. They’re hopeful it’s a 10-day-to-two-week thing, but, well, it’s a 10-day-to-two-week thing, and that begins tonight in Providence, which is not exactly where you want to be missing your top defenseman.

Matt Carkner is in for him, with Loic Leduc still out after blocking a shot here a week ago. Thompson has apparently put Carter Verhaeghe back on the top line after practicing differently yesterday, meaning the top three lines are as they were the other night. It looks like Connor Jones is in for Jared Gomes. Marc-Andre Cliche is in transit, Thompson said, but not here yet. Also one to scratch for the Bruins; looked like Irwin.

Bridgeport scratches (believed healthy unless noted): Mayfield (upper body), Leduc (right foot), Whitney (right leg), Rowe (lower body), Collberg, Cliche (on his way), looked like Gomes.

Think it’s the first Bridgeport game for linesman Kevin Keenan of Pawtucket. Didn’t see any sign online that he’s related to Mike Keenan… either one of them.
