Milner up, Gibson out: Tuesday notes

Bridgeport called up Parker Milner from Missouri today; he met the team for its practice in Portland, to which Christopher Gibson (“upper body”) did not travel. “It was better to rest him rather than bring in him on the trip,” Brent Thompson said from Maine. Expecting him to be ready this weekend? “Hoping,” Thompson said. “He’s sore. Some of the symptoms were a little worse the next day. At the end of the day, it’s precautionary: make sure he’s rested.”

Sunday was the third time since Dec. 5 that Bridgeport has announced an attendance of 4,008. These are the past seven announced home attendance figures: 4,008, 4,678, 3,456, 3,333, 3,678, 5,678 and 4,008. Look, I understand as well as anyone that creativity’s lacking at this time of year, but…

Josh Heller pointed something out Sunday that I forgot to mention: The AHL’s roster sheet for Sunday’s game originally listed Ryan Fraser as a referee, but Fraser was hurt Saturday in Wilkes-Barre. It’s been over three years since Fraser worked a Bridgeport game. Hope he’s doing OK and he gets here soon.

Mark Divver said Malcolm Subban was on the ice at the end of Providence practice today. Nice to hear.

Horrific day in Brussels. This world is a mess.

And RIP, Rob Ford and Bob Ebeling. (H/t on both links to Jason Chaimovitch.)
