Gibson up/Pelech down/Quine POTW (Monday running)

The Islanders announced earlier this morning that Christopher Gibson has been called up under emergency conditions. J.F. Berube’s day-to-day, lower body.

Ryan Pulock is expected back in for them tonight against Tampa Bay.

Edit: This has all the makings of one of those days off. Adam Pelech has been sent down to Bridgeport on a conditioning assignment. He’s been out since mid-January with that upper-body injury that was originally thought season-ending. Big piece to add for Bridgeport in a big weekend. We’ll see how he looks.

Edit, 1 p.m.: Alan Quine has been named AHL Player of the Week. He had three assists Tuesday morning against Portland, his first pro hat trick Saturday in Wilkes-Barre, and the only goal in yesterday’s loss to Springfield.

(And yes, he totally thought he had his stick broken in the first period.)

Quine’s the first Sound Tiger to get the nod since Ryan Strome received it twice in a row in December 2013.

It’s AHL Awards season, too; ballots were due this morning. Along the lines of the Shayne Gostisbehere ballot a couple of years ago at the regionals, I mostly just kept typing “VATRANO” until the machine told me to quit it.

2:10 p.m.: Albany extended its lease through 2019.

2:30 p.m.: “Ya didn’t get the Gordie, kid”: Springfield released Tyler Currier, No. 1 star yesterday.
