Devon Toews signs… one contract

Good news and bad news for Bridgeport’s roster, in way, this morning. The Islanders announced they’ve signed Devon Toews, their highly regarded fourth-rounder in 2014, to his entry-level contract to begin next year. But he won’t join them immediately: He’ll finish up the school year at Quinnipiac and, if the Sound Tigers are still at it by then, will join them on an ATO at that point. (Toews’ Bobcats teammate Sam Anas has reportedly signed with Minnesota.)

So Bridgeport is what it appeared to be yesterday, for the most part, with Michael Dal Colle officially on the roster this morning and at morning skate, according to the Twitter.

Portland picked up a couple of juniors of its own last night; haven’t heard if they’re in tonight or not. That news came down from South Florida during the Islanders’ Game 1 win down there last night, and hey, Alan Quine, look at that stuff. (Had almost tweeted a shift or two earlier about him going to the net, battling behind the net at the endboards, look at what he’s done… and then that.)

No trip to Portland for us — no more Tim Hortons up there, so the disappointment is eased just a little — so drop by for a liveblog tonight. We’ll see how many hockey games one can safely follow before panic strikes.
