On the road, in the air: Wednesday notes

As we’re told, everybody but the long-term injured guys (Whitney, Rowe, Vaive) was expected to make the trip. They’re supposed to be practicing this afternoon; see if anything sounds different. The Marlies, per Paul Hendrick, changed a couple of things again. Edit, 4:30: Tweeted, not blogged, yesterday: Bridgeport let Eamon McAdam go after Gibson came back. He’ll finish up his school work for the year before his real rookie season next season.

Couldn’t get to Toronto myself, so hang out here for an elimination-game liveblog Thursday night.

Wild stuff last night in Grand Rapids, where the Grffins finished off the sweep, scoring their first two goals in short order, both of them going through the net. The Admirals’ disbelief reminded me of our disbelief here after shot after shot went through nets in Bridgeport. (We haven’t seen a ton of those, really, in the last 10 years, no? The one that sent Vermont to the Frozen Four, and… that might be it since David Masse in ’05-06, I was reminded checking the files. But see last night’s blog post: I don’t trust my memory.)

In Utica, the Comets’ Alex Grenier scored at 9:13 of overtime to extend Albany to at least a fourth game. No games tonight; all five remaining first-round series have a game Thursday.

A coaching change in San Antonio:

TEAM Old New
BIN Luke Richardson (4/18)
MTB Keith McCambridge (4/22)
SA Dean Chynoweth (4/26)

And Evan Grossman of the Daily News on the goal horn.
