For every “Portland’s going to Lowell” or “Portland’s going to Albany” rumor, it seemed there was another one behind it.
Today comes word that “Portland’s going to Springfield.” No formal announcement yet, though the Pirates’ Twitter account vanished briefly after the story hit. (Edit, 6:25: Lee Goldberg of WCSH tweets a statement from the Pirates confirming the framework.)
In better news at about the same time, Aaron Portzline reported good news on Brett Gallant:
.@monstershockey F Brett Gallant, who collapsed on bench during #AHL game in Toronto on April 8, has been cleared to resume skating. #CBJ

Gallant had a minor heart procedure after abnormality was discovered. Could skate w @monstershockey soon, but not yet cleared for contact.

It seems inconceivable for something to be amiss with Brett Gallant’s heart, but there it is.
