Last ups: Friday notes

The Islanders organization is facing elimination Sunday. Like the Big Club, Missouri fell behind 3-1 in its series; the Mavericks lost 4-2 to Allen tonight in Texas despite tying it in the third on Ross Johnston’s first playoff goal. Game 5 is late Sunday afternoon in Allen.

Both AHL Eastern Conference division finals are even after two games. Toronto quickly gave away two leads, but it held onto its third on T.J. Brennan’s second goal 6:43 into the third. Zach Hyman’s wraparound late made it a 5-3 final. William Nylander and Nikita Soshnikov were back in for the Marlies; Jim O’Brien and Pavel Zacha were out for Albany.

In Hershey, with Liam O’Brien suspended for a hit on Dominik Simon the other night, the Bears got two quick first-period goals to take a 2-0 lead, and Justin Peters’ 27 saves made it hold up. The Penguins host Game 3 on Saturday; Game 3 in the other series, in Albany, is Sunday. The two Western Conference series both play both days.
