Teams on the brink: Thursday notes

We interrupt lacrosse to note that we’re as little as 120 minutes away from Hershey-Toronto. Tonight in Albany, two more power-play goals helped the Marlies build a lead in a 5-1 win at Albany, taking a 3-2 series lead. Mark Arcobello assisted on both power-play goals and on Josh Leivo’s empty-netter.

Albany defenseman Dan Kelly got a 10-game suspension for his Game 4 hit on Andreas Johnson. It looked ugly on grainy video; embedded there is better video that makes it look atrocious.

Game 6 in that series, back in Toronto, is Saturday afternoon.

Last night in Hershey, the Bears blew a three-goal lead but won 5-3 with a short-handed goal and an empty-netter making the difference. Wackiness: Tom Sestito fought his Twitter buddy Liam O’Brien early on, scored the tying goal in the third, shushed the crowd… and was ejected. Zach Sill scored a little over two minutes later. Game 6 in Wilkes-Barre is Friday, as is, finally, Game 4 of Ontario-San Diego. Game 5 of Lake Erie-Grand Rapids is Saturday.

Brock Nelson is headed Over There to join Team USA for the rest of the World Championship. He wasn’t there for Thursday’s 4-0 win over France, which was scoreless 34 minutes into the game; that is, way later than comfortable early on an East Coast morning.
