Reign on/Devils to distance: Saturday notes

Ontario’s through, Albany has forced a Game 7, and another Game 7 will, if necessary, move.

Start in Toronto, where the Devils beat the Marlies 4-1 to force a deciding game Monday night. Albany was quite banged-up but got spread-out scoring, led by Nick Lappin’s goal and assist, to push that series to the limit.

Ontario finished the Gulls in five with a 2-1 win tonight on the Coast.

Grand Rapids stayed alive again, winning Game 5 over Lake Erie 6-1 after trailing the series 3-0. Game 6 is Monday. Because the Cavaliers are going to need Cleveland on Tuesday, a possible Game 7 has been moved to Columbus on Wednesday.

Hershey-Penguins Game 7 is Sunday at 5.

Over at the World Championship, the U.S. can clinch a medal-round spot with a win Sunday over Germany. A loss could make Tuesday against Slovakia a must-win. The big news was from the bottom of the pool: Hungary earned its first win at the Worlds since before World War II: Feb. 3, 1939.
