Finn, Schempp down: Thursday notes

One last time…

Steve Goodman, man.

Congratulations to the Cubs. As we await the impending apocalypse (hey, I feel fine), a couple of moves from the Sound Tigers this morning: Kyle Schempp and Matt Finn to Missouri. Sheer numbers and the roles that have become more established the past couple of weeks made these logical, and it’s a familiar move.

“That’s all it is” is playing time, Brent Thompson said. “They’re young guys. They need to play. With the numbers, with people around the corner coming off injury (he wouldn’t say it, but I took that to mean Stephen Gionta’s getting close, though I haven’t seen him yet), we need to make sure they get those game reps. … With our group, I didn’t see them playing the weekend. At some point they’ll come back up.”

That left 15 forwards, eight defensemen and two goalies on the ice. Lines and all looked about the same as they have recently.

Neglected the prescout yesterday. Hartford has lost three in a row.

And…. all…. right…. then….
