One glaring absence this morning: Ryan Pulock is day-to-day with an upper-body injury suffered late in Sunday’s game. Brent Thompson said it “could end up being week-to-week.” Well then. Tanner Fritz also left midway through practice with a lower-body injury; he’s day-to-day.
But Adam Pelech was in town, back in his usual spot alongside Scott Mayfield. And a new goalie at one end: Jaroslav Halak has arrived. He declined to comment on the past week; said it’s in the past and he’s just looking forward to playing. More in the paper tomorrow.
Halak had initially been assigned No. 30, but he will, in the end, wear his usual No. 41. Patrick Cullity moves to 39.
Kyle Burroughs was back in his usual spot next to Devon Toews, and Travis St. Denis was where Fritz had been Sunday. And looked like Eric Boulton might be back in again against Springfield.
Elsewhere, former Sound Tigers goalie C.J. Motte and his brother Tyler both wound up in the AHL today from different directions: The Blackhawks sent Tyler down, while C.J., who had an impressive ATO with Bridgeport in 2014-15 but hasn’t played an AHL game since, signed a PTO with Charlotte. Unfortunately, the Checkers and Rockford don’t play until Feb. 18.

The U.S. junior team survived Switzerland yesterday to reach the World Junior semis; an assist for Tage Thompson. They’ll once again face Russia, which knocked off darling Denmark, on Wednesday afternoon, while Canada and Sweden meet in the other semi.
