Gold for the USA

Twice down by two, the United States twice rallied to tie, and Troy Terry’s second straight shootout winner gave the USA the gold tonight in Montreal at the World Junior Championship. Islanders draft pick Kieffer Bellows scored two goals, and Calgary pick Tyler Parsons came up huge in overtime and went 5-for-5 in the shootout to win it.

That means gold for New Canaan’s Patrick Harper and for Tage Thompson. Like I said on Twitter, a lot of places claim a piece of Thompson; in a video on the broadcast tonight, he himself said he was from Oyster Bay, Long Island. But the roster says his hometown is Orange, and in its small way, that’s pretty incredible.
