Opting in: Utica pregame

Ryan Pulock and Tanner Fritz were on for a very-optional morning skate this morning, each got a quick good workout from Matt Carkner, and apparently each passed: They look like they’re in tonight. Colin Markison was also on for that skate, and Ross Johnston and Stephon Williams were the only others. That seemed to tip off the lineup, up front at least, but just now Markison rushed and Josh Ho-Sang didn’t. See what’s up with that. Edit: Ho-Sang is in fact out. We’ll find out.

The Holmstrom brothers get broken up: Josh joins a reunited Green Line with the Joneses, and Ben goes with Andrew Rowe and Markison. Jon Landry is out for Pulock.

Making sure I saw what I thought I saw (these camo jerseys do a very good job of hiding these guys’ identities from this distance) left me catching up to Utica, but think this is it. The Comets had an emergency backup, Joe Spagnoli, last night in Providence with Thatcher Demko out ill; tonight, they’ve gone PTO instead, bringing in Jonah Imoo from Manchester. The Imoo family made news early in the season when Dusty Imoo, one of the Kings’ goaltending coaches, backed up Jonah, his son, with the Ontario Reign. Richard Bachman, who denied Peter Cehlarik on a penalty shot with 50.7 seconds left last night after Colby Robak was ruled to have knocked the net off, starts again.
