Defense for Bears: Wednesday notes

Didn’t make the optional this morning for assorted reasons, not least that I’m sick as a dog right now. We’ll see about tomorrow. But an interesting trade earlier today: Hershey picks up veteran defenseman Tom Gilbert in a trade between Washington and Los Angeles. He’ll shore up the defensive depth for the Bears, who return each of the next two Sundays to play Bridgeport.

We should get Martin Frk and Ryan Pulock in the same place at some point.

Brett Gallant got a four-game league suspension for a check to the head.

Sacred Heart’s Brett Magnus got a mention in Elliotte Friedman’s 30 thoughts as a possible free-agent goalie target this spring.

Belated congratulations to onetime (literally) Sound Tiger Teddy Donato and Harvard on the Beanpot title.

And Claude Julien wasn’t out of work very long.
