A first for everything: Friday roundup

While we watch overtime from Anaheim (are you kidding me, Ducks?):

Tage Thompson had his first pro playoff goal and an assist as Chicago evened its series with a 7-3 win over Grand Rapids. Scooter Vaughan returned from injury for the Wolves. The series goes to Grand Rapids for games Saturday and Monday.

It’s already been a good overtime night for the Ducks organization: Nate Guenin tied it with his first pro playoff goal (his 33rd pro playoff game, 26th in the AHL), then Kevin Roy won it quickly as San Diego beat San Jose in Game 1. Game 2 is Saturday. (All four series play Saturday, actually.)

Closer to home, Byron Froese broke a tie against his old teammates as Syracuse won Game 1 over Toronto.
