Pair of Sevens: Tuesday notes

If you missed the very-busy earlier stuff, the Rangers are finally coming to Bridgeport (for a preseason game), and a big shakeup in Hartford, including the end of the Ken Gernander coaching reign.

There’ll be two Game 7s in the Eastern Conference on Wednesday night. Tonight in Hershey, Providence came back from two goals down and beat the Bears 4-2 to stretch that series. Last night in Toronto, Andrew Nielsen’s late goal lifted the Marlies and sent that series back to Syracuse.

Las Vegas announced that the Chicago Wolves will be their AHL affiliate. St. Louis will share the affiliation this coming year.

Mark Divver tweets that Islanders goaltending coach Mike Dunham advanced in U.S. Open qualifying in Newport.

Worcester’s schedule is out. Logically, whole buncha Manchester. Hoping to get up there at least once.

Huge win for the U.S. at the World Championship, coming back to beat Russia 5-3. Brock Nelson had three points, and Anders Lee had the game-winner. The Americans won their pool, winning six in a row since their what-the loss to Germany to open the tournament. They’ll meet Finland on Thursday (10:15 a.m., NBCSN) in the quarterfinals. Germany meets Canada, Russia faces the Czechs, and Sweden meets Switzerland.

And a nice Bob Klapisch piece on the late Steve Palermo.
