Cup in the House: Friday notes

In addition to the Steve Bernier news of the day…

Syracuse came out like a house afire in the first few minutes tonight at home. But the Crunch didn’t score. Grand Rapids did twice by the end of the first period and held on to win Game 4 3-2 at the War Memorial. The Griffins can win the Cup on Saturday night in Syracuse, or the Crunch can force a Game 6 on Tuesday.

Former Cleveland and Springfield Falcons captain Ryan Craig has retired and joined (Las) Vegas as an assistant coach. Meanwhile, the Springfield Thunderbirds announced six signings, including onetime (literally) Sound Tigers forward Anthony Greco and our good friend Cornell F Buckles.

Onetime Sound Tigers defenseman Daniel Tetrault is the new head coach of Rapid City (ECHL), where former Bridgeport assistant coach Joe Ferras moved up to general manager a year ago.

Bridgeport’s former ECHL affiliate, now officially the Kansas City Mavericks, announced an affiliation with Calgary; Adirondack says it’ll replace the Flames shortly.

And RIP, Glenne Headly.
