Draft Day 1

The Big Club was quiet Friday — or, at least, it didn’t get anything done, as Travis Hamonic was widely reported all day to be available — but the boys crosstown were the busier on Friday. The Rangers made a blockbuster deal, sending veterans Derek Stepan and Antti Raanta to Arizona for young defenseman Anthony DeAngelo and the seventh-overall pick. They used their two first-rounders on two European forwards as an organization that needed young depth got it in about seven hours.

Jack Capuano, rumored to a couple of different destinations of late, became associate coach to new Florida Panthers coach Bob Boughner.

Utterly fantastic.

And RIP, Gabe Pressman and Bill Dana.
