Just guidelines: Free Agency, Day 1, running

Dealings being done? Farmington boys going “beat ’em, then join ’em”? It’s not even noon and the reports are already hours deep. We’ll try to keep up and break out any Bridgeport-related stuff we may hear.

Here’s this year’s versions of the Bridgeport free agents and NYI/BPT signed lists.

–Bob McKenzie early this morning suggested Micheal Haley to Florida.

–The Blackhawks signed J.F. Berube, onetime Sound Tigers and Vegas Golden Knights goalie. Edit: one-way deal, says agent Allan Walsh.

Montreal announced it has signed Byron Froese and Peter Holland.

–Under a separate post, the Islanders’ news so far: Carter Verhaeghe for Kristers Gudlevskis.

–A Syracuse tweet reminded me of this Lindsay Kramer story about Gudlevskis; his wife, Anastasia; and her twin sister, Katherine.

–Minnesota has been busy for Iowa, signing an assortment that includes Cal O’Reilly and Alex Grant. Mark Divver has Jordan Szwarz, who had an outstanding year at Providence, signing a well-earned NHL deal with the Bruins.

–Michael Leighton, widely reportedly, to Tampa Bay.

–Buffalo announced it has signed Seth Griffith, former Providence standout. Defenseman Matt Taormina to Montreal. Goalie Jeremy Smith to Carolina. Nick Bonino to Nashville (4 years, $16.4 mil, not bad for a Division II kid) is official.

–First splash for Bridgeport: Seth Helgeson to the Islanders on a one-year deal.

–Former future Sound Tigers defenseman Brenden Kichton to Carolina.

–Frank Seravalli reports that the Rangers are signing Greenwich native and ex-Brunswick defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to a four-year deal.

–Kane Lafranchise returns to the organization on his very first NHL contract.

–Bridgeport has signed Scott Eansor to an AHL deal. Elsewhere, Mat Bodie to Tampa Bay.

–Assorted Flyers signings, most recently Phil Varone.

–Quick break from writing (hey, newspapers!) to catch up on some signings: Hartford picked up some offensive power with Paul Carey and ex-Husky Cole Schneider. Mike McKenna goes to Dallas (though, as McKenna tweeted, the Stars’ announcement tweet includes a photo of new Islanders goalie Kristers Gudlevskis). Pittsburgh’s WBS signings include ex-Hartford defenseman Chris Summers, Zach Trotman, Jared Tinordi and Greg McKegg. And Tampa Bay signed Alex Gallant, Brett’s younger brother.

–Bracken Kearns to the Devils.

–All indications are that the Islanders are done for the moment. Still a little thin up front, but added some experience (one returning, one arriving) on the back end and added a goalie who’s been around the block. See what follows from here.
