Crossed off: Friday notes (from Thursday)

Neglected last night to link you to this, the AHL’s summary of its Board of Governors meeting. (It also included assorted awards.) Maybe the most interesting note in there is something that didn’t change: Even with the unbalanced divisions, there won’t be a playoff crossover again this year. Top four in each division make it. Tweeted my being down with that from a Legion game Thursday night; have written before why last year’s situation is unusual. (You have your schedule. You know your situation. Teams play different schedules within the division, so it’s apples-to-oranges anyway. Go win.)

The alignment is as was earlier released, including Charlotte’s move into the East Atlantic Division. Expansion is approved but to be announced. And the schedule, as Dave Andrews said at the All-Star Game, will be out next week. (We’ll still use this line.)

The Flames’ Emile Poirier talked about his battles with alcohol at Calgary’s development camp.

And a neat Randy Cassingham piece on touring his old haunt, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
