Plan your (partial) October: home openers

The AHL schedule is due out tomorrow (at 3 p.m., says the league), but we already know four matchups for the Sound Tigers’ 17th season: Teams began releasing their home-opener opponents this afternoon. For the Sound Tigers, it’ll be the new Laval Rocket paying their first visit on Oct. 21.

Bridgeport will visit Binghamton on Saturday, Oct. 7, for the Binghamton Devils’ home opener. The Sound Tigers coincidentally played at the then-BCVMA on Oct. 11, 2002, the first game in Binghamton Senators history. The Sound Tigers go to Charlotte for two games (the first of presumably two visits) the next weekend.

Hartford will welcome the Checkers to the division on Oct. 6 at the Mall.

……

There is a Tim Hortons at a gas station in New Rochelle, and I’m annoyed that nobody told me.

Veteran NHLer Fred Brathwaite takes over as Islanders goaltending coach from Mike Dunham.

And Jeff Jacobs yesterday passed on the passing of Jacques Ysaye, composer of a piece you might recognize. RIP.
