Away they go: Thursday notes

Broke down the summertime roster file to convert it over to the in-season roster file. Updated contract statuses. Did the Group-6 math (there’s a bit of it, but at least we’ve gotten past guys who were under contract during the last lockout; no more pro-rating that year).

It’s just about that time. Some 58 guys in East Meadow by the roster that Jon Lane tweeted this morning (and Arthur Staple says Christopher Gibson has clearance to take part for real). I count 12 tryouts, including Ben Holmstrom (did I update the post the other day? Don’t think so, just papered; vacation) and Casey Bailey among veterans; five forwards under AHL contract to the Sound Tigers; Worcester Railers*-contract defenseman Willie Raskob; and Connor Graham, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. (Seriously, does someone have a count on how many camps this is for him? We already did the bit that he outlasted Jesse.)

Edit, Friday, 10:45 a.m.: The list the Big Club released Friday morning is down to 52 (31-16-5), losing six tryouts, including Graham, Raskob and Sound Tigers forwards Matt Gaudreau and Matt Lane.

Speaking of non-tendered young’ns, a few of the last remaining Bridgeport free agents latched on: Stephon Williams to San Jose (AHL), and Loic Leduc to Reading (ECHL). (This is usually about the time we stop updating these pages, but we’ll see.) Edit, Friday, 10:50 a.m.: One more: Taylor Cammarata to South Carolina.

Per EliteProspects, Brett Gallant has a tryout with Columbus, for whom he played the past two years in Cleveland.

And RIP, Frank Vincent.

*-First typed “Sharks.” It begins.
