Just win series: Wednesday notes

The Islanders got three points tonight against two for the Flyers, so a huge split-squad series win ton… nah, can’t get through it with a straight face. More importantly, Michael Dal Colle was a late scratch. That stuck Devon Toews in at forward, and he scored a goal. I wasn’t at either game but wrote about Toews’ linemate.

Travis St. Denis and Eamon McAdam didn’t appear to skate the past two days. Maintenance days, was the word. Stephen Gionta, who went down hard on a double-collision in Monday’s game at the Garden (and if you saw it, tell me your first thought wasn’t “again?”), was on briefly yesterday but apparently not today. The Islanders are off Thursday.

At the moment, you can’t get tickets for Friday on Ticketmaster. (Great seats for Laval opening night, though.) There are reportedly a handful of singles available at the box office, and there are group packages available through the team. Alan and Brendan Burke will have a radio webcast, and MSG will air it live. (And should you be unfamiliar with Friday-night I-95 traffic in Fairfield County, it will take you longer than you think; and considering the full house, arriving around gametime will probably involve local-road and parking delays, too. Be aware.)

Love to Puerto Rico.

And RIP, Bernie Casey, and Jake LaMotta, Italian kid from the Bronx.
