Jones out: Thursday notes

Connor Jones is day-to-day, banged up on his last shift yesterday midway through the first period. But Stephen Gionta took part today, wearing no-contact red, for about the first half of practice, before things really got battle-drilly. Stuff from him the paper tomorrow, but suffice it to say he’s not all that close to returning.

Two lines stayed together, but Ross Johnston was where Michael Dal Colle was to start yesterday. Down to 13 healthy forwards, they dressed four in yellow: the Holmstroms, Kyle Schempp and Dal Colle.

Was reminded late yesterday that yesterday’s warmup mix was…. three years ago’s warmup mix. We’ve also heard last year’s and two years ago’s over the first few home games. At this rate we’ll have a few games start off with “Take My Hand,” and Dubie will be leading them out to “Kickstart My Heart” by Thanksgiving. (Not that I’m complaining. About the music, at least.)

(Wade Dubielewicz is coaching junior hockey with Jean Bourbeau. Small world.)

Sound Tigers off-ice official Emma Longley is again Class M state high school diving champion.

Lee Stempniak to Charlotte on conditioning. The Checkers (9-3) are in Bridgeport next Saturday.

Rent your jerseys? Huh. (Hat tip: one Nick LaRosa via Paul Lukas.

And RIP, Daniel Flores.
