Minor changes: Monday notes

Changeover to basketball at Harbor Yard after a day’s work on the ice, so practice at Wonderland today, with the same cast of characters as of late (in some tweaks, which we’ll see what sticks). No call to Worcester to add an extra forward, and not sure if they will, either. The Railers have a morning game on Tuesday against Brampton, and if all else stays the same, any moves would likely wait until after that. But still, Bridgeport doesn’t play again until Saturday after Wednesday, so it’s not the most pressing issue.

I was Thinking Too Hard on the Wotherspoon/Vande Sompel switch the other night, apparently. Sometimes a swap of young defensemen is just a swap of young defensemen. (Vande Sompel was back on the power play this morning, for what it’s worth, which apparently is only so much now.)

The Islanders, meanwhile, say Nikolay Kulemin is out six months. That’d be conference-finals-ish, if I count accurately.

All right, let's get the power play set up

Eric Boguniecki honored by West Haven Youth Hockey at Bennett Rink on Nov. 12, 2017 (contributed photo)

A nice day for Eric Boguniecki and family yesterday at Bennett Rink. They did more than he was expecting, he said. Mike Madera wrote a nice piece leading up to it.

Grade-A trolling in both directions yesterday in Hershey vs. Wilkes-Barre.

Enfield’s Robbie Baillargeon is off to a good start in the Coast.

Edit: Missed it this morning: Congrats to Julie Chu and Caroline Ouellette on baby Liv.

Tip of the cap to Carlos Beltran, the best position player ever to play for the Mets.

And RIP, Liz Smith.
