Our first look at the Sound Tigers and talk with Brent Thompson since yesterday’s moves. The rationale isn’t overly surprising on sending down Pat Cullity and calling up Yanick Turcotte.
Cullity, “we’re not going to keep him down long. We just want to get him playing games,” Thompson said. “It’s an opportunity makes sure he’s game-ready.” And Turcotte, “energy, intensity, a little edge. I thought the last game we needed that intensity. With (Connor Jones) out … Turk’s been playing well down there in that role.”
Not that Thompson was committing to Turcotte getting in right away. Back to 15 forwards, they ran five lines, and it looked like Turcotte was on the fifth. So we’ll see. They’re off to Springfield tomorrow. We are not, dropping in instead on Sacred Heart and Yale at Harbor Yard. Will try to catch up on BPT-SPR before Sunday’s Rochester tilt.
A little double prescout tonight in Springy, with the Amerks in town. Springfield has sent both Mikkel Aagaard and Cornell F Buckles to Manchester while Florida recalled Harri Sateri, making the T-birds’ roster, if not their lineup, way less interesting. (At least Henrik Haapala is back.)
Jones remains suspended through the weekend. The guy he was suspended for slew-footing, Jordan Subban, was traded to Los Angeles for Nic Dowd.
Bob Crawford calls his first NHL game tomorrow night. In that Courant piece is a note on a TV game for UConn tonight… on the call is Alan.
Sam Ftorek, son of Robbie and onetime Bridgeport camper (and current SPHL coach), is going into the ECHL Hall of Fame.
