Three down, one on: Monday notes

Brent Thompson said he gave the three guys who came down yesterday the option today: skate, or work out. Tanner Fritz and Sebastian Aho took the workout; Anthony Beauvillier skated. Which, now that I type it, kind of explains the odd four-man line combination there. Thompson said they’ll play.

Ben Holmstrom and Kyle Burroughs were also off the ice today. Sick, said Thompson. Lines were jumbled up some, and I imagine they’ll be remixed for tomorrow’s practice when Fritz and/or Holmstrom return, so we’ll hold off and see where some guys wind up.

No reunion on Wednesday: Hartford let Chris Langkow go from his PTO. The Railers got shut out yesterday. They wound up picking up defenseman Brock Beukeboom the other day after Curt Gogol failed a physical.

A neat Sportsnet story on Pete Flagler, the Marlies’ assistant equipment manager.

And RIP, John Young.
