Ludlowe held off Darien on Wednesday night by a 49-34 score.
The game was back and forth in the first half. Neither team was able to pull away and neither team played particularly well.
At the half, the Falcons led 24-22.
The second half was a different story for the Falcons who turned up the intensity on defense by pressing the Blue Wave for 94 feet. The pressure led to easy offense for the Falcons as they were able to get Darien to make mistakes with the ball and the Falcons were able to capitalize on Darien’s turnovers.
After three quarters, Ludlowe led 41-27.
Ludlowe played very smart in the fourth quarter on both sides of the ball and ended up holding Darien to seven fourth quarter points.
The Falcons needed a lot of luck to get into the FCIAC tournament and it just didn’t happen. They were eliminated with Danbury beating Greenwich in OT.
The Falcons now await to see the parings for the Class L state tournament. They will play their first state tournament game the week of March 4th. More info to come.
