Ludlowe beat Westhill Wednesday afternoon by a score of 4-0.
It was a very important game for the Falcons in terms of both the FCIAC playoff race and State tournament seeding.
Ludlowe was lead by their Pitching today. Mike Kochiss threw 4 innings, allowing 0 runs on 4 hits, walking 5 and striking out 2. Victor D’Ascenzo cam in with two men on in the 5th after Kochiss left with and injury.
The first batter D’Ascenzo faced tried to bunt the runners over but instead he popped the bunt up to D’Ascenzo and he was able to pick the runner off at second who was getting too far off. D’Ascenzo was able to get out of the inning by picking off the runner at first. D’Ascenzo threw 3 innings, picking up the save, allowing 4 hits, 1 walk and striking out one.
Ludlowe’s offense was scattered around the batting order.
Ludlowe got on the board in the 2nd inning on an RBI single by Mikey Arman.
Ludlowe then increased the lead to 2-0 on a RBI ground out by D’Ascenzo.
Ludlowe added a run in the 5th on an RBI single by D’Ascenzo.
Ludlowe tacked on the 4th and final run in the 6th inning on a RBI triple by Tommy Howell. Howell’s hit was a bomb over the center fielder’s head, that allowed Connor Quinn to score, after he had walked to lead off the inning with a great at bat.
Ludlowe improved to 5-3 overall, 4-2 in the FCIAC. They play next on Friday at Norwalk.
