Ludlowe defeated Bassick by a score of 16-0 on Monday Afternoon.
Ludlowe came out aggressive but was aided by a good amount of Bassick errors.
Credit to the Ludlowe hitters for being patient and working out walks. Also even though Ludlowe didn’t have a ton of hits, they put the ball in play the majority of the time, often forcing the Bassick miscues with their hustle.
Ludlowe’s pitching was outstanding. Peter Cross started and threw 4 innings, allowing 0 runs, 2 hits and 0 walks and 8 strike outs. Andrew Salveson followed and threw 2 innings of scoreless ball, allowing only one hit and nothing else. Dan Casey pitched a scoreless 7th, allowing one base runner on a hit batter, while striking out one.
Ludlowe’s defense was pretty good, only committing one error.
Ludlowe improved to 7-5 overall, 6-4 in the FCIAC. They play next on Wednesday vs Trinity Catholic with a chance to clinch a state tournament berth.
