Wakeman travel fell to Greenwich 65-49 on Saturday night.
Fairfield got down early and came back at points but Greenwich was able to come out victorious. Greenwich’s size gave Fairfield problems.
In the first quarter, missed shots and turnovers were hurting Fairfield as Greenwich was able to get some easy points in transition. After one, Fairfield trailed 18-12.
Fairfield played great in the second quarter, outscoring Greenwich 17-9 in the quarter to take a 29-27 lead at half. Fairfield took their first lead, 21-20 on a jumper by Antonio Brancato with 5 minutes to play in the quarter.
Greenwich regained the lead in the 3rd and held a 41-38 lead after three.
Greenwich broke the game open with an 8-0 run with 5 minutes to play in the game, stretching a 41-40 lead to 49-40.
Greenwich outscored Fairfield 24-11 in the fourth to turn what was a close game, into what would finish up looking like a blowout.
For Fairfield, Aidan Kudzy had 10 points and Brancato 8, in the losing effort.
