Rivalry: Ludlowe Sweeps Warde

Ludlowe basketball defeated Warde.

The JV games got the action started with Ludlowe being victorious in both the boys and girls games. This was followed followed by the girls varsity game, with the boys varsity game finishing up the night.

In the girls varsity game, Ludlowe won by a 53-42 score. The first half was even but Ludlowe was able to pull away in the second half. The Falcons were led by Pauline Blatt who had 21 & Charlotte Blatt who had 10

In the nightcap, Ludlowe boys varsity had the game from the start.

Ludlowe used their height on the boards and led 12-5 after one.

Ludlowe gained a 23-12 lead at half thanks to great defense. At half, Mark Malone led the Falcons with 12 points and Mark Byrne led the Mustangs with 7.

Ludlowe continued to dominate and led Warde 32 to 20 after 3, thanks to a 7-0 run to close the quarter.

Ludlowe continued to play well in the fourth quarter. At one point in the quarter the Falcons had a 15 point lead, their largest of the game.

Ludlowe would defeat Warde 42-30 to claim town bragging rights.

The Falcons were led by Mark Malone’s 19 points, including five 3’s. The Mustangs were led by Byrne with 11 and Max Garrett with 10 in the losing effort.

Ludlowe can credit this win thanks to great defense and rebounding.

Ludlowe improves to 6-7 (5-6 in FCIAC). Warde drops to 3-10 (3-8 in FCIAC). It’s the second time this season that Ludlowe defeated Warde, already haven beaten them in the Holiday Classic.

The freshman teams will square off tomorrow. The girls will play at 6, with the boys following at 7:30. Both games will be played at Warde.
