German police said Sunday that they had searched a home in connection with an alleged extortion scheme targeting former supermodel Cindy Crawford and her family according to the Associated Press.

U.S. authorities had said Thursday that a German man had been charged in the U.S. with trying to extort $100,000 from Crawford and her entrepreneur husband Rande Gerber over a photo of their daughter, then 7, bound to a chair and gagged. He was accused of threatening to sell or release the photo to the media.

The Crawford family is claiming they were unaware of the photo. They have also said the nanny must have taken the photos as part of a game.

Edis Kayalar, the 26 year-old suspect, was taken into federal custody in the U.S. for an immigration violation three months ago and deported to Germany. Kayalar’s apartment was searched and numerous items were taken from the apartment according to the police.

Daily News

Lauren Bacall was honored this weekend with an honorary Oscar during the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 2009 Governors Awards. Believe it or not, Bacall has never won an Oscar!

“The thought when I get home that I’m going to have a two-legged man in my room is so exciting,” 85-year-old Bacall quipped Saturday night during the awards showcase – the first time it’s been held in a ceremony separate from the Oscars.

It’s the first Oscar for Bacall, who has starred in more than 30 films, including “The Mirror Has Two Faces,” which earned her a best supporting actress nomination in 1996. She was favored to win, but the Oscar went to Juliette Binoche for “The English Patient.”

Lauren Bacall, Congrats on your Oscar!

Gillian Held singing straight to the top

by:

Gillian Held is a 17 year-old high school student, who speaks to you like she has been living for years. She has been singing since she was ten years old. Gillian has performed in numerous school musicals and community theater. Held is a triple threat. “I’ve been singing for eight years now. I started dancing for 12 years, and I started acting in 6th grade,” Held said.

Everything hasn’t come easy for Held. She faced some comments from her fellow peers about her and her singing career. “I am not going sit here and be like, oh no everyone loves me in my school. I go through the people that talk about you, the rumors. I go through that every day. You have to be strong and you have to just not let it affect you. Take what they say about you, all the negativity and put it in your head. When your in the studio or working you think about that and it makes you want to work so much harder and show them,” she said.

Held’s song is inspiring, strong, determined, and really good. She has a strong online following already. She has over 200 Facebook fans, and countless MySpace fans. She constantly twitters and blogs keeping all of her fans in the loop on her career and her whereabouts. You truly feel like your her friend.

Gillian told me she prefers to answer everyone herself and she actually blogs herself. She somehow manages to talk to all her fans, record songs, perform at local venues, and remain in school. She even attends school functions. Our interview couldn’t go too long because Held had to catch a football game.

She is pretty amazing. I recommend downloading her song. You won’t regret it. To download Gillian’s song off Itunes click here

Travolta back in court

by:

John Travolta was back on the stand in a Bahamas courtroom to discuss the extortion demand. Travolta mentioned he first hear of the extortion from his assistant in January.

Travolta was on the stand for only 25 minutes. He told the jury that a paramedic had threatened to sell stories to the news media suggesting the movie star was at fault in the death of his 16-year-old son. Travolta appeared in court with his wife Kelly Preston. Both of them hurried into the court room as they were swarmed with paparazzi.

Travolta’s son Jett had died (two weeks prior to Travolta being threatened for money), on January 2nd, from a seizure at the family’s vacation villa in the Bahamas. Travolta claims the ambulance driver, Tarino Lightbourne, wanted $25 million or else he’d go to the media with a medical release form and a story.

This court case is still developing. Stay tuned for the latest updates.

Disney’s Christmas Carol Exclusive Clip

CC_Pay-Off One-SheetDISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL, based on the classic Dickens tale, is re-envisioned by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis in a groundbreaking 3D motion picture event starring JIM CARREY, GARY OLDMAN, COLIN FIRTH, BOB HOSKINS and ROBIN WRIGHT PENN.

DISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL, a multi-sensory thrill ride re-envisioned by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, captures the fantastical essence of the classic Dickens tale in a groundbreaking 3D motion picture event.

Ebenezer Scrooge (JIM CARREY) begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk (GARY OLDMAN) and his cheery nephew (COLIN FIRTH).  But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it’s too late.

Some movie facts:
·         Jim Carrey tackles several roles, including Ebenezer Scrooge (at various ages old and young) and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.
·         The Dickens novella was first published on December 19, 1843, becoming an instant – and enduring — success.
·         Launched in Los Angeles Memorial Day weekend 2009, DISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL Train Tour is traveling more than 16,000 miles with stops in 40 cities coast to coast.  Visitors get to see an exclusive 3D sneak peek from “Disney’s A Christmas Carol” inside a 48-foot-wide, 2-story, inflatable 3D theatre, and are treated to a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the making of the movie—with artifacts and character designs housed in real train cars. The whole experience is free. A list of cities is at Disney.com/christmascaroltraintour.

I recently received an exclusive clip, which can be found below.

In “The Event” actors Jim Carrey and Colin Firth, along with director Robert Zemeckis and producers Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke give you their perspective on bringing Charles Dicken’s tale to the big screen.

DISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL arrives in theatres November 6, 2009.

Johnny Depp SDCC Visit (VIDEO)

by:

Tim Burton did a panel to discuss his new movie, Alice in Wonderland. In the beginning of the panel they showed what all of the characters are going to look like. Then they showed a trailer for the movie.

However, the moment everyone is talking about involves a surprise visit from Johnny Depp. The moderator kept asking Burton if he brought anything else to which Burton kept responding no. However, right before the panel was over the moderator asked again and in walked Johnny Depp.

Below you will find the video to the surprise event.

Let me know what you think. It’s kind of hard to hear over the screaming…

New Moon Panel SDCC (Video)

by:

The San Diego Comic Convention ended on Sunday July 26th. I spent 8 days in San Diego, CA covering everything from celebrities walking around to panels, to screenings. Over the next few days I will be publishing stories detailing all of the events and inside stories.

Beginning with the New Moon panel.

The panel was Thursday afternoon. However, fans began lining up the night before. It’s hard to attend the convention unless you have line buddies. Someone that can help take shifts waiting in line for panels and screenings.

I met up with some friends at the convention. They were all obsessed Twilight fans (as am I). They got an amazing spot in line and let me join them. It’s estimated that around 10,000 fans waited overnight to try and get a good seat in Hall H. Hall H holds around 6,500 people.

The line went on all around the building. In the morning, once we were allowed in, it was chaos. People were running to their seats, tripping over each other. The con staff kept making announcements, ‘Don’t run, please walk,” but as usual that did nothing.

Once everyone was seated, the first panel started. People in Hall H got to see an exclusive clip of the movie, A Christmas Carol, starring Jim Carrey. They also had Tim Burton come out to introduce the Alice in Wonderland trailer. He sat to answer questions. After the questions, Burton was asked if there is anything else he brought. Johnny Depp came out from stage right. — Look for my post with video and pictures of both panels.

The New Moon panel came next. They showed two exclusive clips, one with Jacob teaching Bella how to ride the dirt bike. It gave viewers a first look at how they were going to portray Edward (Rob Pattinson) as a ghostly form. The second clip showed Bella running through Italy trying to stop Edward from walking out of an alley. Both clips unfortunately can be found online even though we were asked not to film any of the exclusive clips. Thus, I will not be posting those here.

However, the panel was fair game. Below you will find an embedded video that I took of the New Moon panel. It’s part one. If you double click the video it will open up YouTube allowing you to view the other parts that I have put online, as well as, all the other videos I have taken.

All the videos and pictures will appear on here over time. I have over 40 videos and 400 pictures — so it will take awhile. Keep checking back here for the latest information.

Things learned at New Moon panel (for people who don’t want to watch the videos)

1. Rob would be willing to do open mike nights again. However, he is worried that he is going to keep being recorded.

2. Taylor feels that he is more like Jacob before his character changes. Once he changes he thinks he goes “Wacko”.

3. Ashley is excited for the next director. She also considers herself a really happy person. She said she is close to her family like her character, Alice.

4. Kristen feels that in this movie, Bella, has serious mood swings. However, she doesn’t't complain about it or make excuses. She feels what she feels and thats it, which is cool. She also said the major difference since the movie is her hair cut.
THE NEXT ONE CONTAINS SPOILERS….

5. When asked what their looking forward to going into the next film: Taylor said the sleeping bag scene and becoming friends with Edward, Kristen said being pregnant, and Rob said being apart of the caesarean, he said “oh, I just can’t wait.”
