CHESS WORKSHOP ( Ages 5+) 1:00-5:00pm

The YMCA of Greenwich is proud to have Rich Jackson teach 4 fantastic chess workshops this summer. The workshops are designed to work beautifully for players of all ages and abilities – novice to champ. The daily schedule will include three hours of instruction, snack break, open play and a half hour in the Y’s pool. Program Fee: $300 per Session,  $75 Daily Drop-In Fee. Walk-ins are welcomed!
Session Dates: July 7 – July 11, July 14 – July 18, July 21 – July 25, July 28 – August 1

PLAY-WELL TEKNOLOGIES LEGO CLINIC

Pre-Engineering (Grades K-2): 9:00-12:00pm
Participants will build bridges, roads, cars, planes and full cities while they explore the creative world of engineering with their favorite building blocks. Session Date & Price: July 28- August 1, $175

Engineering FUNdamentals (Grades 3-5): 1:00-4:00pm
A perfect workshop for your Lego enthusiast! Using more than 100,000 Lego pieces, participants will explore concepts in physics, mechanical and structural engineering and architecture by taking on real-life engineering challenges. Session Date & Price: July 28- August 1, $175

Jedi Engineering (Grades K-2): 9:00-12:00pm
Young Jedi will explore worlds far, far away and engineering principles right in front of them. Defeat the Empire by designing and refining LEGO® X-Wings, R2-units, and settlements on far-flung edges of the galaxy. Imagination and engineering combine to create motorized and architectural projects such as energy catapults, shield generators and defense turrets. Session Date & Price: August 4-8, $175

Jedi Master Engineering (Grades 3-5): 1:00-4:00pm
The Force is strong in this class. Build complex machines and structures based on the best designs from a galaxy far, far away. Projects include LEGO X-Wings, AT-AT walkers, Pod Racers, Star Destroyers, Cloud Cities, settlements, and fortresses. Play-Well’s Jedi instructors reinforce key engineering concepts such as gear trains, worm drives, pneumatics, eccentric motion and more as students tap into the powerful forces of imagination and engineering.

About Coach Derrick Dunlap: Coach Dunlap has over 14 years of coaching experience, has a proven winning record at the AAU, High School, and Collegiate levels. Additionally, Coach Dunlap has worked as an elementary teacher and school administrator at the high school level.

SWIMMING LESSONS

Swimming is a vital life skill and we strive to instill a love of the water in all our students combined with respect for the water. We are a comprehensive learn to swim program for all ages. We provide skilled instruction in learning to swim, stroke development, and water exercise, as well as competitive swimming and private aquatic instruction.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
In-water evaluations are required for placement in all levels. Please fill out registration form and submit to the front desk. Upon confirmation, an email will be sent directly from Samantha to all participants. Parents may observe lessons from the mezzanine level observation deck.

NEW SUMMER SCHEDULE!
Choose from one of our three options:

  • Option 1: 2-week intensive program- Each participant that chooses this option will be in class Monday – Thursday for 2 weeks, for a total of 8 lessons. This choice will run 4 times throughout the summer, perfect for families who need lessons to work around their vacation.
  • Option 2: 4-week program- Each participant that chooses this option will be in class 2x per week: Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday for 4 weeks, for a total of 8 lessons. This choice will run 2 times throughout the summer.
  • Option 3: Weekends- Each participant that chooses this option will be in class Saturday or Sunday or both (depending on what suits your family best), for 7 weeks, for a total of 7 lessons.

MURAL MAKING WEEK

Instructors: Kathy Chattoraj & Phil Lohmeyer
For children entering Grades 1-5.

Students will learn how to design and execute a mural in the studio then take their skills outside! Students will also learn about different mural and trompe o’liel techniques. Students will also make a canvas version of their created mural.

August 11- August 15
Full Week Price: Members- $175.00
Non-Members- $200.00
