Poll Shows Finch, Caruso, Fabs Bunched

Step right up for poll results.

Approaching the mid point of his mayoralty, Bill Finch has a lot of work to do to position himself for reelection in 2011.

An OIB poll administered by Connecticut-based Merriman River Associates www.merrimanriver.com  shows Finch trailing his Democratic primary rival from 2007 State Rep. Chris Caruso by roughly three percentage points with former Mayor John Fabrizi running just four points behind Finch. Both those numbers fall within the poll’s margin of error of three percent.

But margin of error is the least of Finch’s worries. The good news for Finch? He still has time to turn it around.

    Spelling error…nepotism not neptotism.

Finch like his predecessors has not rid Bridgeport of its corrupt and tarnished image. The hiring of either inept or unqualified cronies demonstrates this very clearly. I also don’t understand how John Fabrizi thinks he has any chance to get back into office after the debauchal (sp) of his “cocainegate” or the character reference he gave to his son’s friend who was being sentenced for a sexual felony while he was sitting in the mayor’s chair.
And then came Chris Caruso, the only candidate who truly is concerned about Bridgeport’s image and who truly wants to bring Bridgeport into the 21st century. Perhaps Chris is a difficult guy, but he has connections in Hartford, he has no criminal or social drawbacks on a moral or ethical level, and he gives of his free time to the community for the good and welfare of Bridgeport.
Finch did little for Bridgeport and neither did Fabrizi. It was all about the neptotism and cronyism in both the Democratic Town Committee and the city’s administration. And now they are even talking about the return of Joe Ganim who, despite completing his prison sentence and paying his debt to society, still violated the public trust.
