Raising taxes is a toothache for any mayor. Add neighborhood crime and now you’ve got voter root canal. The two combined will gum up any reelection effort which is why Mayor Bill Finch is paying attention to the spike in violent crime with neighborhood outreach. Kudos to police for quick response to the recent events.
There’s a lesson here for every pol as well. When crime is down be very careful about taking credit for it.

Furthermore, maybe if the city cracked down on the minor crimes then these same criminals may get the idea that the city doesn’t tolerate any crime before they commit a bigger or more violent offense.
Raising taxes is Finches answer to everything. He’s completely unaware of how the money’s being spent. Crime may go down some if police respond to calls. I once saw a car being broken into at 3am. I called the police, but no one came. . . Another time, gangsters were installing a new stereo ( although it did’nt come out of new packaging) into a car outside of my window. All the while the gangsta rap music shook the house. After half an hour of it I called the police. The music went on for another hour before the gangsters left. Ten minutes after they were gone the cops finally showed up. Point being is cops are afraid to possibly risk their lives over incedents like these. Don’t get me started on the waste of money to the park and rec. department out at St. Marys, three people collecting a weekly paycheck for three hours of work per week. and the walkways a mess.
Finch is toast anyway. He’s got nothing to lose
