You make peace with city pols who supported Dan Malloy. That means calling Black Rock District Leader Danny Roach and former Democratic Town Chair John Stafstrom and State Rep. Auden Grogins and several others.
You say, okay guys I rolled the dice on Ned Lamont and came up empty. Now it’s time to start thinking about my reelection next year. And you call Dan Malloy and say (gulp) I’ll do everything I can to support you in the general election against Tom Foley. Malloy will win Bridgeport in November, the question is by what margin.
Finch and Democratic Town Chair Mario Testa bet that Lamont’s money would catapult him to a primary win and governor’s mansion, and goodies for Bridgeport and perhaps a commissionership for Finch. That’s out the window. Now the mayor must focus on his reelection because he faces a difficult primary from State Rep. Chris Caruso who lost a tight one to Finch in 2007.
The mayor will need a few breaks along the way — an improved economy, development progress — to win the September 2011 primary. And one of those breaks could be a large primary field that splits the anti vote.
Meanwhile, you make peace.

Lamont has no choice but to run for Mayor of Bridgeport.
He can use the Mayors seat as his stepping stone to greater things, just like Finch.
Mario and Finch are on the way out.
Finch needed a Lamont victory for a State job.
While Danny Roach has to protect his wife’s job.
But if Caruso gets in as Mayor, bye! bye! Bonnie!
The citizens of Bridgeport need to be reminded that Mr. Malloy was against putting a casino in Bridgeport. I bet that won’t be something the good Mayor will be mentioning any time soon!
