Mark your calendars. On Feb. 22 a special election will fill the state assembly seat vacated by Chris Caruso who’s taken a job with the Malloy administration. A candidate forum will take place tonight (Tuesday) at the Lake Forest Clubhouse on Frenchtown Road. Connecticut’s 126th Assembly District includes parts of the North End and Upper East Side. Here’s your chance to hear from the candidates and ask them what kind of ride operation they’ll have if we get another snowstorm. Break out the dog sleds.
From the Lake Forest Association:
126th State Assembly District Special-Election, Candidates’ Forum, 7 PM, Tuesday, 02/08/11
Lake Forest Association will conduct a candidates’ forum on Tuesday, February 8, 7:00 PM at the Lake Forest Clubhouse, 424 Frenchtown Road, to which all of the official candidates contending to replace long-time Bridgeport State Representative Chris Caruso have been invited to participate …
The candidates contending to replace former State Representative Caruso are:
Former State Representative Bob Keeley (one-time representative of the 126th District); Rev. Charles Stallworth, Bridgeport Police Commission member, pastor of the East End Tabernacle Baptist Church, and member of the Bridgeport Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance; previous contender for the 126th District Seat, Bridgeport Police Officer Verna Kearney; Thomas Lombard; Mark Trojanowski; Joe Giaquinto; James Keyser; and 136th District Councilman Carlos Silva.
*Please plan to car-pool, due to the snow-related reduction in parking-space and other snow-related parking restrictions.

To Bada Bing…you’re wrong. Keeley has had his day in the sun. His methodology is very passe’. He has become a lazy, old school politician who lost to Grogins because of his laziness. He thought he could rest on past laurels, many of which did little for Bridgeport and left Bridgeport in its current state of rot. Just getting money from the state government isn’t going to help. There isn’t any money and Keeley has no idea how to get it otherwise. Time for new blood that isn’t tainted by the machine….
Hey Mr. Bing next time go to the meeting, keeley talk about his past, not about what he was going to do for Bridgeport.
Bob’s a nice guy but Tom Lombard Kick everyones ass.
I also attended the debate.Rev.Stallworth is highly qualified for his field of Divinity, but
Not politics. He won the party endorsement to solicit the minority vote.He won the nod
from Testa & Finch, the 2 most unpopular people in politics. That proves that he is just
another gear in the “Machine” that Testa controls. So much for independent thought.
First of all, Thanks to all the Candidates for there time. Bob Keeley was, And is By far the one for the job. I do not knock ANYONE, But for this seat Bob Keeley is the one. And yes…..enough about the past, Bob wants to move Forword, And wants to FAST…… He his the most Down to Earth Man i have meet in MANY years He does not want to sit and talk….He says Enough talk….LET’S ” DO IT “
I was there also. Mark Trojanowski was the only candidate that addressed more than jobs and taxes. He has a handle on the dynamics of the flies and leeches who have run Bridgeport into the ground for the last 30+ years. Keeley was Keeley. He talked about himself and his past, but not about what he intends to do about the Bridgeport morass. Lombard was right on many issues, but looked like what he is, a union leader in a suit.
Stallworth was an empty suit with a very good presence. Kearney had neither substance nor insight into what it takes to be a state rep. Carlos Silva knows the local level and would be out of place in a sophisticated environment in Hartford, much like our current legislative slate, Audin Grogins the lone exception.
Tom Lombard was great! He should run for Mayor.
He was the only-one taking about Jobs and lowering Taxes.
