Just wanted to give my favorite podcast guys some recognition.
Listen to it all here….CelticsStuffLive
Justin went solo with past partner on CSL Jim ‘JB’ Metz, as Jon Duke was celebrating the birth of his baby. Congrats to Jon, his wife and new addition.
JB had to leave the show this season due to health problems. He brought us up to date on his successful eye surgery (on both eyes). Glad to hear that it all went so well, JB.
Unfortunately, they were unable to remove that Paul Pierce irritant from his eye, who may be nursing his own less-than-healthy body without public fanfare, and luke warm endorsement of Glen “Big Baby” Davis (Hey, he can’t right all the time). JB always brings an insightful, and well defined point of view.
Justin and JB cover lots of Celtic Nation territory and it’s worth a listen. Throw a few callers in and listener voice mail and e-mail comments in and you have a great show.
How does Mr. Metz feel about Mikki Moore when compared to P.J. Brown? How about Tony Allen versus Bill Walker? Ahhh, you’ve got to listen to find out. You might be surprised.

“Unfortunately, they were unable to remove that Paul Pierce irritant from his eye”
Pretty funny stuff…. “Mr. Halzak.”…… LOL
Thanks for the kudos.
BY the way, I love Davis, but was forced to decide between he and Powe. Leon is the “Grown Man.”
Keep up the great work…. I read your articles every day………

JB,
The Celtics, too, may be forced to choose between the two players. There is little doubt that Powe has amassed a stronger body of work to this point and is the more consistent player.
That could change as time goes on.
Contrary to what many think, Baby is not playing over his head of late. He is playing with it. He is just starting to reach his potential after a stumble out of the gate this year, IMO.
I saw this in him almost since the beginning. Leon is a terrific player and person. But so is Glen.
With Glen Davis you can’t look at the stats and the past. His game is ahead of him, I believe.
Paul Pierce sends his love.
peace,

LOL
When Paul plays with his head up….. I can shower him with a “purist” fan’s affection…. when he thinks he has to take over a game and everyone else stands around…. as happened last night when the Bobcats got back in the game, it gets frustrating for me.
With Garnett sidelined, it must be tempting and when the shots are falling everyone cheers and praises him, but when the defense swarms and he still tries to dominate the ball, bad things happen on both offense and defense….

It must really bother you if you had to say it four times! Schnikees!
There is no doubt that Paul has, at times in the past, forced things when he probably shouldn’t have. I think that is largely a non-issue, except now (with KG out)…when they are looking for offense.
If he started games and did that regularly, I would agree. He only goes into ‘alpha dog’ mode when things aren’t working within the team concept. Who knows? Maybe Doc is even saying ‘let’s go to Paul’ for a while and see what happens.
Until I saw how run down he seems to be, I thought he should be a bit more assertive…not less. That opinion has changed.
I think that Garnett being out might be stressing Pierce the most, actually.
But ‘taking it into traffic’ is part of his game. Sometimes, it won’t work out and will look bad in the doing. I won’t begrudge him for trying to make something happen when obviously nothing else seems to be working.
I would point to other things as the reason why the Cats got back in the game.
The ‘Cats were doing a good job of covering all players last night. So you have to try some things. If the shots were falling in, you might feel differently.
It is like when Rondo does his acrobatic drives. when they go in they look great. When they don’t…they looked forced and unwise.
Paul still shot 50%, had 32 quiet points, went to line for 12 foul shots, made 11, and put pressure on their bigs in the middle. That will help open things up.
In fact, that is the reason why Wallace left Ray Allen to cover Pierce going to the hole. He is force to reckon with. Why else would you leave Ray Allen open? Similarly, Paul gave it up to the open shooter, who just air balled a similar shot.
You could say, ‘that was what he was supposed to do’, but remember that they didn’t need a three pointer, he only needed to get fouled, something that happens to him most of the time.
But I will agree that his drive into Dwight Howard in the Magic game was dumb. I’m not sure if it was Emeka standing in his way or not this time.
I do agree that his careless turnovers can be quite frustrating.
I always enjoy your insights, even if we may view things a bit differently.
