Rasheed Wallace Will Sign With the Boston Celtics

The breaking news for the Boston Celtics is that they finally have breaking news….and it is very good news.

Both Marc Spears of the Boston Globe and Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald are reporting that 6’ 11” forward/center Rasheed Wallace will definitely become a Boston Celtic. He will sign a 2 year contract starting at the midlevel exception of $5.8 million. Don’t expect a last minute Toronto ‘Hedo high jacking’ repeated by the Spurs, Magic, or Cavs.

It appears to be a done deal. While Wallace was supposed to entertain offers from the above mentioned teams, Murphy in the Herald reports….

“Wallace called Strickland (his agent), however, and told him to call off those meetings once he made up his mind he wanted to be a Celtic.

After a whirlwind week starting with a sprint from the line on the day NBA free agency officially started, and a group of high profile players moving to new teams through trades and free agent signings, Celtic fans were beginning to wurra, wurra, wurra.

Adding Wallace is huge for the Beantown Ballers. Supplying needed length, Rasheed is an accomplished player at both ends of the floor. A veteran of the playoff wars, that is invaluable for the ‘title or bust’ Celtics.

Wallace has one NBA Championship, two NBA Title series, three more Conference Finals, and 153 total playoff games on his resume.

This entry will be updated.
