Doc Rivers…
Weve just started out the year with 8 games in 12 days and that’s just brutal.
We’re going to have to get a whole better later, than now. But we’re playing pretty well now and our bench is giving us a great lift.
The Boston Celtics’ 2009-10 ‘Taking It Back’ Tour heads home tonight to face the re-born Phoenix Suns.
The Shaq experiment is long gone. The Suns are flying again. Happy days are here again for Phoenix.
The surprising (to me) Phoenix Suns are tied for the Pacific Division lead with the Lakers at 4-1.
The Celtics are going for 7-0.
The Suns have returned to the offensive system that best utilizes Steve Nash and the Sun’s run oriented roster. He is worth the price of admission alone. Already in the top ten assist leaders of all time (9th), barring injury, Nash will pass Rod Strickland this season.
But Nash isn’t the only player worth watching on the Suns. 6′ 10″ Amar’e Stoudamire is returning after recovering from serious eye surgery and is rounding back into shape. The venerable and still productive 6′ 8″ Grant Hill rebuffed overtures from the Celtics, the Knicks and other teams to returned to the Suns. He is starting at small forward. 6′ 6″ Jason Richardson starts at shooting guard while new comer 6′ 11″ Channing Frye is starting at center.
The Suns return to the top of the heap in pace at #2 in the league. Their offensive rating is 6th best in the NBA while defensively they are 20th.
Rajon Rondo plays very well against the Suns. He scored 23 points on 9 of 15 shooting with 7 assists last January and followed that up with his career high 32 point game on 13 of 18 shooting, wit 7 assists in February.
The Celtics have beaten the Suns handily the last three times they have met.
The Beantown Ballers are coming off a flat performance, barely winning in Minnesota and are in the final two games of an intense 5 games in 7 days. After tonight, the Green Machine heads to New Jersey for another game tomorrow against the injury riddled Nets.
