Bedroom Makeover: The Big Reveal

|

OK here it is. The “After” photos from my daughter’s bedroom makeover. Warning – the quality of some (OK, most) leave a lot to be desired – but you get the idea. So the room is not completely done – there are some tweaks I want to make but overall she was a happy camper with the transformation. This first photo is her reaction. Isn’t it sweet? You can see the before photos here.

This net “canopy” over her bed was the main thing I wanted to find as she had pointed out in one of her favorite books. It was a Goodwill find. Those mirrored frames above her bed need to be moved over to the right above the wicker basket.

Speaking of the wicker basket, I wanted something to store her stuffed animals in and when I drove past this basket on the side of the road I knew I had a winner. I’m thinking I might flip the lid over and have a board cut to fit inside so this could also act as a bed side table. Add that to the to-do list.

This table isn’t new but I moved it from one side of the room to another so I could create a little art station. She got a watercolor set for her birthday and since then has sat down everyday to paint. It’s so nice to see. The table and chairs were a find a few years ago from Goodwill. I painted them in Sherwin WIlliams “Funky Yellow.” I’m in love with that color! The litho above the table is from amazing artist Scott Wilton.

Here’s a detail of one of the baskets. It’s new from IKEA…they were so sweet I couldn’t resist.
This, people, is probably my favorite part of the room. I wanted to bring the purple over to the other side of the room somehow. I came up with the idea of doing a fat stripe and continuing it over the dresser – which has new knobs. That IKEA frame I bought a few years ago has stood empty all this time. I covered it with a sweet polka dot fabric. The lamp is vintage.
I reorganized her bookcase and found some pink storage boxes in clearance. Now I don’t have to see her doodads floating all over the place. Yay!
I found this little mirror at Goodwill. She is making good use of it already :)
That solid pewter heart was a recent tag sale find. Isn’t it awesome? She loves hearts!
I even organized her closet with a second bar that she can reach and we hung up her dress-up dresses.
The little sofa was salvaged from work so I dyed the cover purple to match. The grey cabinet is an old piece from IKEA. It was in her brother’s room. Coincidentally, her brother room also got a bit of a makeover. Stay tuned.
All this artwork on her clothesline has been created since her birthday! Can you tell I’m a proud mama?
There you have it folks. All in all I’m pretty happy with the outcome. I would have loved to change that pukey purple color on her walls but time did not allow. Maybe on the next trasnformation.
