Next stop: farmer’s market

Before you know it, the grass will be green, the days will be long, and the farmer’s markets will again be packed. And you will be searching for bags to bring.

These recycled market bags, handmade by women artisans in Cambodia,  would be perfect not only for produce and groceries, but goodies of any kind. Made from 100 percent recycled rice and feed bags that would otherwise have ended up in landfills, they have sturdy, box-sewn seams.

The bags zip on top and have one zippered and two open interior pockets, which means you can store your money and license and eliminate having to bring a purse. (Hooray!)

The bags, found at Ayindisa in Ridgefield, come from Global Girlfriend, an online boutique created to help women worldwide gain economic security while providing unique products. The company offers women-made, fair-trade apparel, accessories and gifts.

$60. Ayindisa, 18 Prospect Street, Ridgefield. (203) 894-1115.
