Repurposed clothing underfoot?

|

Personally, I would never have guessed this rug was made of repurposed traditional saris, but you may be a tad more insightful than I. Regardless, though, it’s an amazing idea.

Made of cotton and jute, the rug measures in at just less than three-by-five feet in size. If you look closely, you can see the different-colored veins running through the  pile – possibly where pieces of one woman’s garment ends and another begins.

I’m always in favor of reusing something, instead of allowing it to end up in a landfill, and what a beautiful way to accomplish that. With the variety of hues featured, this rug could complement virtually any color scheme.

As luck would have it, the rug is on sale right now for $84.95, although it’s usually $99.95. Pier 1 Imports, 2264 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield,  (203) 336-1327, or 1460 Post Road East, Westport. (203) 255-3413. www.pier1.com
