It started as a geeky event in Seattle by Brady Forrest of O’Reilly Media and Bre Pettis (formerly of Etsy.com) in 2006 – since then, it has grown to become an ongoing series of international gatherings where the brightest minds get five minutes of stage time to make their point. Tomorrow, May 14th, the Ignite Stamford team will host their next event!
Ignite Stamford is a community outlet for sharing stories, spreading ideas, and enacting positive change on a local level. From ethical omnivores to student activists, everyone has a story to tell, and they’re here to help them tell it. At each event, eight speakers will share their stories, ideas, thoughts, and passions using 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds, sparking deep conversation, connections, and action in the blink of an eye.
But Ignite Stamford is not just about sharing stories—it’s about exploring them. Between every talk event, there will be an informal workshop focused on turning ideas into action where participants will work on existing community projects or brainstorm new ways to transform ‘The City That Works,’ from launching a safe streets initiative to planning a public mural.
Through its talk series and workshops, Ignite Stamford will foster an active and engaged community committed to shaping the future of Stamford.
The event will be held at the Stamford Innovation Center (175 Atlantic Street). Doors open at 7:00pm, and the event begins at 7:30pm. PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS HERE
