Obama’s birth certificate: How birthers see it

by:

So, Obama trying to put an end to the “silliness” that is the birther moment finally released his long-form birth certificate yesterday. Not that most of America really cares.

But for the minority who see Obama’s American citizenship as a vast-liberal conspiracy, here is how the Huffington Post thinks birthers would view the document: LINK.

TV truck a ruse for huge pot load

by:

More people are getting movies delivered to their home via the digital airwaves nowadays.

And perhaps now the satellite TV folks can deliver other products as the Border Patrol found out along the Texas-Mexico border.

Agents noticed an apparent Dish Network truck that emerged from the brush was emitting a strong odor of marijuana.

Nintendo plans to oust Wii

It seems like only yesterday that the big new thing in gaming was the Nintendo Wii.

Wait a minute — wasn’t it only yesterday?

Actually, it was 2006 when holiday shoppers camped outside stores to fight for their chance to own a brand new Wii. Even so, the console is still fairly new, although according to CNNMoney, its days are numbered.

Nintendo plans to launch a replacement gaming system in 2012. A playable model of this system, as well as more information about it, will be available at the E3 Expo in June.

As for the Wii? It will join the ranks of Sega Dreamcast and arcade consoles — though perhaps its discontinuation will up its cool factor.

But no matter what, I plan to stay true to Wii Boxing.

Double Dream Feet supersedes Dream Hands

by:

John Jacobsen is at it again — this time with “Double Dream Feet,” the sequel to his viral dance video “Double Dream Hands.”

Hey, if it worked for his hands, why not for his feet too?

Jacobsen posted his new video on YouTube earlier this month, saying “I think it’s even catchier than the original.” Check it out:

But is it just me, or does Jacobsen have a lot more zeal in his first video?

If nothing else, the Double Dream series speaks to how the Internet has made public some things that really should remain private. But if you’re feeling it, there’s more Double Dream splendor — including shirts — at Jacobsen’s Web site.

Facebook joins the daily deals arena

I am a Groupon fanatic. While the offers don’t always apply to me (obviously) I am almost as excited to see what appears in my inbox each day as I am to open a snail mail greeting card.

Sites like Groupon (Living Social, Google Offers launched last week, etc.) send you an email each morning sharing the deal of the day. The promotion — a $50 restaurant gift certificate for $25; cheap laser hair removal — must be purchased within that day-long window, but you can redeem the deal at any time.

Now the social networking King Pin, Facebook, is getting in the game with their Facebook Deals. Unlike some of the other sites, that have plenty of solo-type activities (nail salons, lunch promotions), the Facebook feature will focus on being, well, social. Essentially, their offers will encourage you do to group activities with friends — wine tastings, white water rafting — for a discounted price.

Deals are currently available in Altanta, Austin, Dallas, San Diego and San Francisco. If you aren’t close to one of those cities, you can sign up for updates when they come to your area if you go to that Facebook.com/deals page.

Here comes the tornado straight at me – but I’m OK (video)

by:

The world’s most unflappable man talks on a cell phone as he videotapes a tornado barreling down on him.

“Oh, half a mile … I’d say it’s coming straight toward me.

“Yeah but it’s not one of those … devastation, terrible …

“Yup, there goes a flash. It’s blowing up some power lines now …

“Yup, there goes the roof off a house …

“Looks like roofing blew off a building and got me. I mean, I’m OK. Don’t worry for me.”

One cool customer indeed.

Hide your kids: Antoine Dodson arrested for pot possession (Reuters)

by:

Antoine Dodson, the nobody-turned-somebody of “Bed Intruder Song” fame, was arrested Monday morning for alleged possession of marijuana.

The viral-video star – who warned people to “hide your kids, hide your wife and your husbands ‘cuz they’re rapin’ everybody out here” – was arrested after getting pulled over for speeding in Huntsville, Ala. Dodson, whose legal first name is Kevin, was charged with second-degree marijuana possession, speeding and failure to have car insurance, Reuters reports.

From the Reuters article:

He was released later on Saturday after posting a $1,340 cash bond, (Huntsville Police spokesman Harry) Hobbs said.

“Let me be the first to tell it!!” Dodson tweeted to his 33,000 Twitter followers after his release. “So just got out of jail off a weak charge … Got pulled over in my Benz and they got me … I never been in jail except that time in grade school. You remember!!!”

Dodson became famous in summer 2010 after a television interview he did when his sister was attacked in their home. Internet viewers found his animated interview funny, but his fame didn’t take off until the Gregory Brothers – who create the popular “auto-tune the news” YouTube videos – spliced up Dodson’s interview, put it to music and posted the “Bed Intruder Song” to the video-sharing site.

Because I’ll take any excuse to watch it again, here’s the “Bed Intruder Song.”

Chaos at St. Louis airport during tornado (Video)

by:

A powerful tornado that scored a direct hit on St. Louis’ Lambert Airport on Friday evening is at the top of today’s trending video, YouTube Trends reports.
This user video shows the scene at a gate during the lightning storm. A man yells “Get out” at 1:18 and screams are heard, but after a few seconds the panic subsides and the crowd evacuates responsibly.

This security video shows the scene as debris rains down on a concourse. The serious damage begins at 0:32.

The tornado was the most powerful to hit St. Louis in 44 years, with winds up to 200 mph, according to the AP story. Miraculously, no one was killed or seriously injured, though as many as 100 homes were destroyed. Although hundreds of panes of glass were shattered, the airport reopened less than 24 hours later.
