Grandma training to audition for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders

A 55-year-old Dallas-area woman says she can shake it and hold her own alongside the hundreds of younger ladies trying out for a spot on the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad, reported CBS 11 News in Dallas/Fort Worth.

Sharon Simmons is a grandmother of two and decades older than most of the team’s cheerleaders. As a fitness competitor, she believes she’s got the body to keep up with their routines and earn herself a coveted spot on the team.

“On stage, I blend right in with women in their 20s, 30s and up,” she told the CBS station.

Simmons hired a former Cowboys cheerleader to help train her in dance prior to the auditions, which take place in May, according to CBS.

By that time, she’ll be 56, years beyond the oldest Dallas Cowboys cheerleader ever, who was 42.

  1. Huh ? says:

So wait, this is a news story ? That someone is trying to do something ?

    Really ????

I’m sorry to say this, but no, she does not fit right in with the other dallas cowboy cheerleaders.

If she wasn’t the age she was, and in fact was 25, would this still be a story ? Her and the other thousands of women that have “tried” to become a Dallas cowboy cheerleader.

She is Hot! I’d love to take her out for dinner and drinks! and more…

  3. Good for her. Shows that age is nothing but a number and that we don’t have to stop having fun or going for it just because we are older. Hope she makes the team.
