Australian walks across country in Stormtrooper outfit

If Darth Vader had a heart, he might be proud of Jacob French.

Jacob French, 21, walked more than 3,000 miles across Australia in a Star Wars Stormtrooper outfit to raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

French started his trek, dubbed Trooper Trek, in July 2011 and finished up Thursday in Sydney, according to MSNBC.com. He lost more than 26 pounds, destroyed seven pairs of shoes and raised more than $1000,000 for the charity during the walk.

The Star Wars fan said the outfit seemed like a good idea at first, but it did present some problems along the way.

“The idea of the Stormtrooper outfit was to create a bit more attention,” French told Australian newspaper The Magnet. “I wore it in a half marathon in Melbourne and had to have it modified for this to make it a bit more flexible. It gets pretty hot – the helmet is like wearing a bucket on your head.”
