As the year comes to a close, we look back at some of the biggest explosions of 2012:

As an officer approached this minivan fire in Sherman, Texas, it suddenly exploded. A man and woman from Marshall escaped the blaze, but police said the couple’s story didn’t add up. Investigators suspect the explosion was caused by a mobile meth lab.

Two fisherman filming a reality show caught this oil rig explosion on camera, about 20 miles off the coast of Grand Isle, La. It was reported that one person died in the explosion.
